We have had some pretty hot weather just lately and even cruising just doesn't seem to reduce the onboard temperature, especially in the wheelhouse. So time to convert the forward hatch into a wind scoop.
First job was to design and print two adjustable hatch stays on our 3D printer, then mount them on mounting wooden blocks in the hatch
The new stays were adjusted and set so the hatch could be set at a 45 degree angle. Then Annette made 2 triangular panels, from 4oz waterproof nylon, which are detachable from each side of the hatch.
The panels are fitted with pop studs for quick removal, or the hatch can be closed with the panels in place.
